Adesh University, Bathinda

Adesh University, Bathinda, serves as the cornerstone academic and research institution of Adesh Foundation, a trailblazer in healthcare, medical, and technical education. The university was officially established in Punjab in July 2012 under Act No. 6 of 2012 of the Punjab Government, as notified in the Punjab Government Gazette (Extraordinary) on July 10, 2012, in alignment with the Punjab Private Universities Policy 2010. Adesh Foundation, the parent organization, was founded in 1995 and registered under the Societies’ Registration Act XXI, 1860, in Sri Muktsar Sahib, a developing region in Southern Punjab. The foundation was created with the vision of serving humanity through healthcare and professional education in medical, paramedical, and technical fields.

Adesh Foundation began its journey in professional education and healthcare with the establishment of the Adesh Institute of Engineering and Technology in Faridkot in 1996. This institution offered various undergraduate and postgraduate programs in technical education. In 2002, the foundation expanded with the establishment of Bhai Maha Singh College of Engineering in Muktsar, in honor of the martyrs of Sri Muktsar Sahib.

Over the years, Adesh Foundation has demonstrated rapid growth and progress, introducing innovative courses in medical sciences, allied health sciences, management, and technical education. Recognized for its potential to lead in research and innovation, the foundation launched Adesh University in 2012, marking a new chapter in its pursuit of academic excellence.

Adesh University’s Expansion

Adesh University encompasses several prestigious institutions, including the Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (AIMSR) in Bathinda, which was established as a premier medical college in Northern India. With an annual intake of 150 MBBS students, AIMSR is duly recognized by the Medical Council of India and the Government of India. In 2005, the foundation added the College of Nursing and College of Physiotherapy to AIMSR. The College of Pharmacy followed in 2006, and the Adesh Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences was established in 2007. Each of these institutions is recognized by the respective regulatory bodies.

In 2008, the foundation established the Adesh Institute of Dental Sciences & Research in Bathinda, offering 100 annual seats for the BDS program, recognized by the Dental Council of India and the Government of India.

Leadership

Dr. H.S. Gill, a distinguished visionary, educationist, and philanthropist, is the founder of Adesh Foundation and the Chancellor of Adesh University. With MBBS and MD degrees from Government Medical College, Patiala, Dr. Gill has dedicated his career to advancing education in the Malwa region of Punjab. His leadership has established Adesh Foundation as a benchmark for quality education in medical and technical fields. Known for his entrepreneurial spirit and meticulous planning, Dr. Gill has gained international recognition for transforming education in underdeveloped regions.

Col. Jagdev Singh, the Vice Chancellor of Adesh University, brings a wealth of experience from his three-decade-long service in the Indian Army. A veteran of technical and administrative operations, Col. Singh has successfully executed critical projects for the Army and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). Before joining Adesh University, he served as the Registrar at prestigious institutions, including Thapar University, Patiala, Apeejay Stya University, Gurgaon, and the Central University of Punjab, Bathinda. His administrative expertise and dedication to resource optimization have significantly contributed to the growth of these institutions.
